With high scalability, a modular form factor, and power efficiency of 0.15 W per gigabit, the PTX10000 line delivers extraordinary capacity for space-constrained peering and collocation facilities.
You can deploy PTX10000 routers to build a core architecture that optimizes label-switching router (LSR), Internet peering, backbone, cloud core and edge, and optical convergence applications for service provider, Data Center Interconnect (DCI), and smaller regional deployments.
Powered by our custom Triton silicon, the PTX10000 line scales from 115.2 to 230.4 Tbps of throughput, delivering the capacity you need for long-term investment protection. It also provides predictable IP/MPLS packet performance and functionality while eliminating the complex packet profiles found in over-engineered network processing units (NPUs).
Choose from two configurable PTX10000 models:
PTX10008 delivers unprecedented capacity in a 13 U form factor. It supports 115.2 Tbps per chassis or 345.6 Tbps per standard 19-inch telco rack, and up to 288 400GbE, 576 200GbE, 1152 100GbE, 288 50GbE, 288 40GbE, 288 25GbE, or 1152 10GbE ports in a single chassis.
PTX10016 delivers ultra-high capacity in a 21 U form factor. It supports 230.4 Tbps per chassis or 460.8 Tbps per standard 19-inch telco rack, and up to 576 400GbE, 1152 200GbE, 2304 100GbE, 576 50GbE, 576 40GbE, 576 25GbE, or 2304 10GbE ports in a single chassis.
Offering the industry’s highest 100GbE and 400GbE port density, the PTX10000 line lets you seamlessly evolve your core network from existing 10GbE and 100GbE architectures to 100GbE and 400GbE.
High Capacity and Performance

SPRING Functionality
Enables a trusted source node to specify a packet’s forwarding path other than the normal shortest path, known as SPRING; provides a backup path using fast reroute (FRR) in the event of a failed node or link.
Programmability and Automation
Brings virtual innovations to the service provider core; optimizes the IP and transport layers to help automate and scale operations when used with NorthStar Controller.
