Service provider budgets are straining under today’s mounting network traffic volumes. When it comes to keeping operational expenses in check, having more capacity and greater port densities in a smaller footprint goes a long way toward managing the costs associated with real estate and power consumption.
The PTX10001 Packet Transport Router meets that need. The label-switching router (LSR) provides high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE interfaces for distributed core networks and network applications. It meets the demands of Internet service providers, high-volume content providers, and multiple-system operators (MSOs) for cost-optimized IP/MPLS in addition to source-packet routing applications in the content delivery network (CDN) core.
Occupying only one rack unit, the PTX10001 is the first fixed-configuration core router that enables service providers to organically distribute transit points throughout their networks. It uses a rich IP/MPLS LSR feature set without sacrificing performance or ease of deployment, two key total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) elements for service providers.
With 3.6 Tbps of forwarding capacity, the PTX10001 supports flexible interface configuration options, including 144 10GbE interfaces using a Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus (QSFP+) breakout module, 36 40GbE interfaces using QSFP+, and 36 100GbE interfaces using QSFP28.
The PTX10001 is powered by Juniper Networks Express custom silicon, which delivers predictable IP/MPLS performance and functionality, and supports inline 256-AES MACsec encryption on all interfaces.
