PTX5000
Converged Supercore router delivers unparalleled performance and elegant deployment.
Increased interactions between people and machines are creating a deluge of traffic, with increasingly unpredictable patterns. These dynamics have intensified the challenge to meet growth with traditional network products and architectures. A new approach, based on both physical and virtual innovations, is required to help service providers stay ahead of growing traffic demands while remaining profitable. Juniper Networks PTX Series Packet Transport Routers with custom ExpressPlus Silicon, built from the ground up with SDN in mind, provide service providers with a Converged Supercore architecture that reduces TCO with highly flexible, high-performance, and deployability innovations.
The PTX5000 Packet Transport Router is the first Converged Supercore® router to combine market-leading performance and transport integration with elegant deployment options. This router provides high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE interfaces for large networks and network applications, addressing the needs of Internet service providers and high-volume content providers.
Occupying 36 rack units, the PTX5000 can be configured with up to eight FPCs, each capable of connecting two PICs that support a variety of network media types. The PTX Series architecture cleanly separates control operations from packet-forwarding operations, eliminating processing and traffic bottlenecks while enabling the Converged Supercore router to deliver extreme performance for both IP and MPLS.
The PTX5000 offers integrated 100GbE coherent dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) interfaces with optical transport network (OTN) framing at industry-leading densities. Fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security management (FCAPS) support for PTX5000 DWDM interfaces is provided by proNX Service Manager. These advanced capabilities lay the foundation for multilayer convergence in the Converged Supercore architecture. The PTX5000 also delivers a full IP feature set, along with high-capacity express MPLS switching and multilayer packet transport manageability.
Enormous Scalability
Up to 3 Tbps per slot, powered by custom Juniper Networks ExpressPlus™ silicon, enables service providers to increase capacity without expanding their network and facilities footprint.
High Availability Hardware
PTX5000 delivers service provider reliability for a Converged Supercore architecture that carries all traffic types.
High Availability Software
PTX5000 enables upgrades without service disruption.
Unparalleled Packet Processing Scale
PTX5000 meets the challenge of scaling to higher traffic volumes at reduced cost.
