MX960 5G Universal Routing Platform

High-performance and scalable router for service provider and enterprise digital transformation.

Unrelenting traffic growth— driven by higher speeds, more subscribers, mobile penetration, cloud adoption, and ubiquitous video consumption—is straining traditional service provider and enterprise networks. To accommodate this reality, Juniper’s Secure Automated Distributed Cloud solution helps service providers react to changing market conditions and accelerate service delivery with world-class products and innovative architectural components. The MX Series is an integral part of this solution. Powered by the Junos OS and programmable Trio/Si5 silicon chipset, MX Series platforms deliver powerful routing, switching, security, and services features that help operators successfully transform their networks—and their businesses—in today’s hyperconnected world.

The SDN-enabled MX960 5G Universal Routing Platform has been proven in the world’s largest service provider, cable, mobile, and data center networks. It offers up to 12 Tbps of system capacity in one-third of a standard telco rack, with support for high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, 100GbE, and 400GbE interfaces, as well as legacy SONET/SDH, ATM, and PDH connectivity.

The high-performance MX960 is packed with highly scalable routing, switching, security, and service features that enable revenue-generating applications, network consolidation, and service convergence. Key features include support for Flexible Ethernet (FlexE) capability, a wide range of Layer 2/Layer 3 VPN services and advanced broadband network gateway (BNG) functions, along with integrated routing, switching, and security services.

Powered by Junos OS and the programmable Juniper Penta silicon, the MX960 is deployed in mission-critical service provider and enterprise networks worldwide. It helps network operators prepare their networks—and their businesses—to react quickly to ever-changing market conditions in the cloud era.

Investment-Protecting Scale

Scales through 12 Tbps, with support for 24 400GbE interfaces and 120 100GbE interfaces to ensure investment protection.

Service Integration

Integrates a wide set of services—including carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), stateful firewall, and deep packet inspection—to address the widest range of applications as well as efficient network and service consolidation.

SDN Enabled

Seamless integration with standards-based SDN controllers such as the Contrail Cloud Platform makes the MX960 an ideal anchor point for service chains that include physical and virtual elements, for highly elastic, automated, and customized service delivery.

Built-In Encryption

Powered by Juniper’s best-in-class Juniper Penta silicon, the MX960 has embedded MACsec and IPSec encryption with no sacrifice in performance.
